Meeting Minutes – October 16th, 2019

By November 24, 2019Home Page, Meeting Minutes
  • As a reminder, 5 days are required for Fall/Winter holidays.  You cannot use sick time for these days
  • The Union holiday party will be held on 12/6 at Smithville.  Cost is not yet determined.  The food drive will be held again during the festivities.
  • The new contracted will finally be posted online by 11/1.  Cindy will send an email when this is posted.
  • The October 1st COLA will show in your first check received in November.  You should be able to see your new pay rate online as of today (through the portal, click on employee, then the link for job details, then your title to see your pay rate)
  • Please note, the increase in pay may increase your insurance rate.  Tables showing the percentage of pay your contribute are on the CWA page of the Stockton website (type CWA in the search bar)
  • The $0 copay for generic prescriptions ordered through optum (mail order company) begins 11/1
  • NJWell increases 2020 benefit to $350 per person (employee and spouse).  To participate you must enroll by the end of the month
  • If you have experienced an issue with promotion (you are doing additional work and your dpf40 was denied) please reach out to the union.  Your office has 15 days to send your DPF to HR and HR has 10 days to process.   Currently, the union is taking the known denials on a direct appeal to the state.
  • If you have 25 years and are retiring your health care plan will be the CWA BCBS plan.  Current retirees should not be assigned to AETNA, but some have been in error. Although a few retirees are happy with Aetna and do not want to change.  Current retirees can participate in open enrollment to change plans during our Open enrollment period just as employed members do.  Note: all questions about retirees should go to HR-their retirement benefits will be answered by them because it is done thru the state, not the Union.
  • HR is cracking down on sick time usage.  If you utilize a cumulative 15 days in any 12 month rolling calendar period, you may be placed on sick note restriction.  We have made HR aware that our contract uses a calendar year for our members, not the “rolling” calendar that HR has tried using. We have made that known to HR and our local. The Union suggests if you or a family member have a chronic health condition which requires you to be out that you contact Joyce Kessel to see if you should be utilizing FMLA.  She will assist you in the application process if your situation qualifies.
